The evolution of an animal print dresser

By February 7, 2012One Comment
This dresser was the first piece of furniture that I sold from at The Red Apron the first month it was open.
What cracks me up is that I didn’t love it….so wasn’t sure if it would even sell at all.

It started out a beat up piece of furniture that I purchased at a garage sale (I think…I don’t actually even remember…..lol) .

I painted it what I thought was a “sophisticated, pale pink” paint and put it on Craigslist.

I thought the distressed finish was pretty….

But even with that and my signature crystal knobs….it didn’t sell.

So, one night I sat in the garage and put the old, original wood handles back on it. And whipped out a zebra print paint on it.
And when I say “whipped out”…I’m talking it took me about 20 minutes to throw the zebra on. Zebra is sooooooo easy to paint. Get something already zebra’d to look at and get you started and just go.for.it. DON’T OVER THINK PAINTING ZEBRA! Use an angled brush and acrylic paint and go for it!
And the dresser sold right off the bat.
Isn’t that the way it goes?
