The first two days that we lived in our new home… this is what it looked like. The beige tones and carpet just weren’t my style.

What I knew about redoing this room was that I wanted to make sure the living room floors matched the rest of the first floor of our home. I wanted the same rich, warm, hickory floors all throughout the main level. The hardwood is pre-stained, and I just love it. I have a full blog post on the hardwood, so check that out here.

I wanted the fireplace to be the focal point of the living room, but I also wanted to make sure we didn’t hide the beautiful view of the backyard and the golf course that we can see from our windows. That view is way too pretty to cover up.

So, we did a total fireplace makeover! Read all about our repurposed mantel with cargo wood here. It’s perfect because I didn’t want the room to feel too formal. I am not one to like such formal rooms that guests feel like they can’t sit and relax. I wanted to make sure it felt comfortable, classy, and colorful! That’s my style, friends.

We got the beautiful chandelier from Best Lighting in Kansas City. Then, we had this spacious, empty room where I had lots of room to play with colorful and fun decorations and furniture. So, I thought, “Where do I want to start?!”.

…It was time to add color and fun, creative pieces to our living room!

Well, blue is the color that I’m super passionate about right now. Everybody knows that! You can tell by some of the new pieces in my home, including my beautiful blue desk from Amy Murry Designs in my office… I. Love. Blue! Check out the blog post on my pretty cobalt blue desk here.

I went about the business of searching for a blue sofa. I found just what I was looking for on Wayfair.. so, we ordered two of them and they’re just perfect. Get all the details on the blue sofas here!

I love the pop of color they bring.. and they’re such a soft material! We already had this neutral, shaggy rug… and EVERYONE asks me about it! It’s from Nebraska Furniture Mart and we have had it for several years.

The zebra chairs are from Craigslist… who would have thought?! I’ll never pass up a good Craigslist deal. The pretty gold end tables are from At Home. With all of these fun pieces combined, I felt like my goals of comfortable, classy, and colorful were fulfilled!

The perfect living room for guests to feel comfortable and relaxed

We won’t be spending a ton of time in this room BUT it’s so perfect for when we have get-togethers with lots of people. There is a ton of seating space in here. We don’t have a tv in this room because we wanted to keep it more for conversation, for the kids to read, and that sort of thing.

And don’t you love this hot pink ottoman we found from At Home?!

All of the different patterns and textures in our comfortable living room make it feel so cozy and inviting. If you’re an Agate Wall Art fan like me, check out one of my recent blog posts where I linked to a bunch of my favorites here!

The Pig Canvas is one of the things people go crazy for in my Affiliate store in Amazon. I love how you can see the colorful pig from many different areas of our home… It’s such a great conversation piece. Check it out here
