Perhaps my pretty, pale pink is actually putrid???

By October 25, 201115 Comments

My husband picked this dresser up for me at a garage sale this summer.

I envisioned it a pretty, pale pink.

So I painted it……

And blinged out the pulls in typical Magic Brush style.

And tried to resell it at MY garage sale.

But got nuthin’.

Zip.

Zero.

Zilcho interest.

Ok, so the drawers don’t slide perfectly. They aren’t even on “glides”. But I still thought the cute factor would outweigh the workmanship of the piece.

What do you think?

PS…be easy on me. I’m fragile.

I think it looks great. Maybe have a matching bed side table. If I had a girl I would like it.

Have you tried Craigslist? I am in KC too and sell tons of stuff that way! Also, try some soft furniture wax or rub a bar of soap on the bottom of the drawers they will slide in and out like new!

Totally not putrid. If you hadn’t already dressered me (and we weren’t out of room), I’d buy it!

I agree with your title…it’s not pink enough. It just needs to be a little more blush right now it looks a little flesh toned. That’d turn me off too.

I think it’s FABULOUS!!! You just didn’t get the right buyer at your garage sale. CL is definitely the way to go. Best of luck!

I don’t know how the rest of the world feels, but I think its a little bit too pale, if its intended for kids rooms, I think most of my friends kids rooms (and my own children’s rooms) are a bit brighter and/or bolder. I think it probably would have sold if it was painted and distressed white or even black, because that works with more schemes, but even a little more pink might have worked too (I am in the market for a dresser/chest of drawers for my daughters room, but her room is pretty bold pink/lime/aqua/purple etc…. so I probably either need to go with white like her bed, or go completely nuts LOL)

  • I think the color is fine…a little victorian shaded…
It’s not the piece that will be the POP OF COLOR in the room.

But I was thinking the bling on the drawers makes it ‘feel’ pretty.

kind of like when I put make up on…it makes me feel pretty.LOL…

I personally love it..I could really use it for my nursery..looking for something just like it. I think the subtle pick is perfect. Wish it was in my room right now! Great job!

I love it too but maybe some harlequin is needed? 🙂

  • I would have jumped all over this!! I think it is adorable!

    Lou Cinda 😉

Hmmm, after reading these posts, I guess it all depends on their own personal taste. You can’t please everyone! I like it!

I think the pink with the distressing looks a bit “diy” – not as professional as most of your stuff. Maybe if the pink were solid and you added a bit of accent painting…or maybe if it were white as others have suggested.

Try Craigslist, I bet it would go in a flash! I’d buy it if you add some zebra to it…LOL plus deliver to the Tulsa area but we will be at Great Wolf Lodge this weekend. We always meet up with our adoption buddies from St. Louis and Kansas City is one of the best places for us.

On a side note, do you know how far the American Girl Store is from Great Wolf Lodge?

  • Maybe God wanted you to save it so I could buy it 🙂

that looks so much like the dresser i painted for my girls room. then i got it in the room and hated it! too close to the wall color so i had to paint it again. but now i love it!
