We finished 2 ceilings in a new construction house this week.
It’s one of my very favorite faux finishes to go over a “California knockdown” texture.
We start with a black base coat and use golds and bronzes over it. It adds depth and dimension to an already textured, raised ceiling.
The homeowner loved the metallic ceiling finish so much she asked we do it in kitchen over her island AND on her dining room ceiling.
You gotta check out her funky dining room chandelier! It goes so well with the metallic ceiling.
It doesn’t go with the vibe of my home….but I LOVED it in hers! Very cool!

This faux finish looks beautiful, I would like to do it in silver metallic on my livingroom ceiling. Thanks for sharing.

Don’t your arms ever get tired?
You’re always painting someone’s ceiling! That’s why you have a job–you’re willing to paint overhead…
As for the paint– I like that metallic look. You could use that in lots of places. I’m thinking– my Wood stove surround…hmmm… I’ll have to give that some thought!
and as for the chandy- it that cassette tape wrapped around an old lamp shade?
You may be onto the next trend!
You know I love that ceiling! Got one just like it in my big entry way in KC…in the house that is still for sale and sitting empty!
I walked through that house last weekend. I really is so beautiful. Can’t see why no one is snatching up my faux finished beauty. Makes me sick how pretty it is and I’m living in a retro house. Wish I could transplant it!
This is AWESOME!! Hope you have a good chiropractor 😀
