When we decided to finish off the basement in our new home (read the full post on that HERE), there was this little area where the wall kind of “jutted out” for lack of a better term. Our builder had talked to us about putting a fireplace there, but we really didn’t want another fireplace because we have a few others throughout the house. Our designer had talked to us about putting a kitchen table and chairs in that area, which we were considering.

But then, one day, Jason thought it could be a good idea to do a build-in. We had the idea of outlining the outside of the 3 walls with a bench, with storage underneath, and a table in the middle. So, we gave our idea to the builder, David Nelson, and made it happen!

We absolutely love how it turned out. We had the backing and the bench painted the same color as the trim in the basement which is Sherwin-Williams Mindful Gray. But then we ran into the trouble of not being able to find a table that was exactly the right size for our area. So, we had David built a custom table!

The lights are from Home Depot and they’re ridiculously inexpensive. I love them and they totally made the area complete! Find them HERE. The horse print is from Nebraska Furniture Mart, but you can find some similar ones HERE and HERE.

Those 3 dining chairs are also from Nebraska Furniture Mart. I found some similar options for you on Amazon HERE and HERE!

When kids are over, they sit here and play cards, do puzzles, watch TV, and just hang out. So, I’m soooo glad we decided to utilize that space this way! Check out the rest of our basement remodel HERE and a full blog post on the basement kitchen HERE!
